Copenhagen

Copenhagen is a city for people and bicycles, not for cars. You can see the entire city within two or three days. To me it was like a breath of fresh air, I found it calming and relaxing. 

Kopenhaga to miasto dla ludzi i rowerów, nie dla samochodów. Całe miasto można obejść na piechotę w dwa lub trzy dni.  Wypad ten był dla mnie jak łyk świeżego powietrza, czułam się tu spokojnie i na luzie. 

Visiting the Freetown of Christiania was an exciting experience. It was founded in the early 70s by the hippie movement and is an autonomy recognised by the government, a little controversial, but very interesting. It is not permitted to take photos here and I had to respect that. These two pictures were taken just outside the gate to Christiania. 

Odwiedzenie Wolnego Miasta Christianii było dla mnie niezwykle interesującym doświadczeniem. Dzielnica ta założona została na początku lat 70. przez ruch hippisowski i jest uznaną przez rząd autonomią, trochę kontrowersyjną, ale bardzo ciekawą. Nie można tu robić zdjęć, więc musiałam to uszanować. Te zdjęcia zrobiłam przed bramą do Christianii.

I really loved the cafes in Copenhagen. I like the fact that I didn't see chains like Starbucks on every corner, but instead there were many local places to grab a bite and chill. I am a big fan of the Scandinavian interiors and architecture - everything is so simple and functional, but at the same time cosy and friendly. I like the way they use natural materials.

Bardzo podobały mi się kawiarnie w Kopenhadze. Ucieszyło mnie to, że nie widać na każdym kroku sieci w stylu Starbucks, a zamiast tego jest tu wiele lokalnych kafejek, gdzie można coś przegryść i posiedzieć. Jestem fanką skandynawskich wnętrz i architektury - wszystko jest takie proste i funcjonalne, a jednocześnie przytulne i miłe. Podoba mi się sposób w jaki wykorzystuje się naturalne materiały.

I had coffee and cakes in Lagkagehuset - the Danish chain of cafes.

Na kawę i ciastka poszłam do Lagkagehuset - sieci duńskich kawiarni. 

The Botanical Garden is located in the heart of Copenhagen and covers an area of 10 hectares. There are 27 glasshouses here and the oldest (Palm glasshouse) dates from 1874.  There are over 13,000 species of plants in the Garden, and one of the attractions is the rhododendron garden. I loved the pond overgrown with water lilies.

Ogród Botaniczny znajduje się w sercu Kopenhagi, a jego powierzchnia liczy 10 hektarów. Mieści się tu 27 szklarni, z których najstarsza (szklarnia palmowa) pochodzi z roku 1874. W ogrodzie rośnie ponad 13 tysięcy roślin, a jedną z głównych atrakcji jest ogród rododendronów. Mi podobał się stawek zarośnięty liliami wodnymi.

I love the colours of these buildings and how the bicycles become a part of this lovely look. 

Uwielbiam kolory tych budynków i sposób w jaki rowery wtapiają się w tło.

This amazing building above is the Old Stock Exchange and it dates back to 1625. Its most interesting feature is the dragontailed spire, which according to a legend protects the building against enemies and fires. 

Ten niezwykły budynek powyżej to najstarsza duńska giełda pochodząca z 1625 roku. Jej najciekawszym elementem jest poskręcana smocza wieża, mająca według legendy chronić budowlę przed wrogami i pożarami.

Seeing Nyhavn is a must. Colourful buildings and restaurants stretch by the water and in the evenings are crowded with locals and tourists.

Koniecznie trzeba wybrać się do Nyhavn. Kolorowe budynki i restauracje ciągną się tutaj przy samej wodzie, a wieczorem wypełniają się mieszkańcami miasta i turystami. 

I really liked the Little Mermaid, but I didn't expect her to be really that small. I was strangely moved by her. She seemed sad and lonely.

Bardzo podobała mi się Mała Syrenka, ale nie spodziewałam się że jest ona rzeczywiście tak malutka. Wzruszyła mnie. Wydała mi się smutna i samotna.
