Windmills and Roosters

Last Summer I visited a cultural settlement in Kadzidłowo in Varmia-Masuria region of Poland. This month I saw another, similar ethnographic park in Olsztynek. Situated in an area of around 100 hectares, there are cottages from as early as the 18th and 19th century here, as well as an Evengelical church, picturesque windmills and farm animals of Polish and foreign origin. This weekend there is a food festival here - local farmers sell honey, meat, cakes and breads. There are also stalls with local art and crafts, for example wicker baskets, wooden sculptures and colourful glass paintings.

Zeszłego lata odwiedziłam osadę kulturową w Kadzidłowie w regionie Warmińsko-Mazurskim. W tym miesiącu zobaczyłam inny, podobny park etnograficzny w Olsztynku. Na obszarze o ponad 100 ha, usytuowane są chałupy z XVIII i XIX wieku. Znajdują się tu również kościół ewangelicki, malownicze wiatraki oraz zwierzęta hodowlane pochodzenia polskiego i zagranicznego. W ten weekend odbywa się tu jarmark produktów regionalnych - miody, mięsa, ciasta i chleby. Są także stoiska z wyrobami rzemieślniczymi oraz sztuką - wiklinowe kosze, drewniane rzeźby, malowane na szkle obrazy.
